About Roy Bennett
Roy Bennett is a major opposition figure in Zimbabwe, enormously popular with the people and reviled in equal measure by the regime. Persecuted relentlessly since becoming an MP in 2000, Roy has been beaten, jailed twice and tried for 'treason' and 'terrorism' in Mugabe's courts. During Zimbabwe's racist land invasions, he saw his black employees battered, raped and murdered. His pregnant wife lost their third child and his farm was seized. He is currently the treasurer of Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change and was recently forced into exile for a second time.
